The White River Bass Masters (WRBM) hosted their 5th tournament of the 2015 regular season at Patoka Lake near French Lick, IN, on Sunday, July 12, 2015. Indiana has continued to be battered by storms for several weeks and has experienced record rainfall. To stem the potential for major flooding the Corp of Engineers has used the reservoirs in Southern Indiana to catch and hold the large amounts of water from the streams and rivers feeding those systems. As a result Patoka Lake was 10 feet over summer pool for the WRBM tournament. At that level all the bridges on the lake were not passable with the exception of Painters Creek. So that took Little Patoka, the Patoka River, Allens Creek and the southern tip of Lick Fork out of the fishable waters picture.
Dock talk from those that practiced was the bite was extremely tough and even non-existent for some. However on tournament day there were some good fish brought to the scales, albeit little numbers with no limits weighed in. Danny Spratt caught the most keepers and brought 4 nice bass to the scales that went 10 pounds and 9 ounces and good enough for the tournament victory. This makes it back to back wins for Danny coming off of his win at Lake Wawasee just a short few weeks back. Todd Irwin took second place with 3 bass that went 9 pounds and 10 ounces. Josh McDermott took 3rd place honors with 3 bass that weighed 8 pounds and 7 ounces. The strong showing for Josh put him in the driver’s seat for the Angler of the Year race with only 2 tournaments remaining on the schedule. Big bass of the tournament went to Tim Cooper with a 5 pound and 5 ounce bass. That fish was also good enough to give Tim 4th place. 5th place went to Jared Schwedler with 1 bass that went 5 pounds even. WRBM will be at it again on August 2 at Sullivan Lake in Sullivan, IN.
