Kentucky Lake, Ken Lake State Park
White River Bass Masters held our season finale at Kentucky Lake November 5th and 6th. Our anglers were met with unseasonably warm weather and bass scattered throughout the lake. Day 1 saw many 1 and 2 fish bags with no limits being weighed in. Cory Lorts led after day 1 with 2 smallmouth that were good for 8.5 pounds. Rounding out the top 5 after day one were Bud Smart with 6.57, Rick Goodyear with 6.01, Kevin Cowen with 5.62, and Danny Sprat with 5.47. Bud Smart weighed day one’s big bass with a 4.67 Largemouth.
Day 2 greeted the anglers with another blue bird day, however, many of those who caught them on day one found their bite disappeared for day 2. After the final weigh in Bud Smart was crowned 2016 White River Bass Masters Classic Champion. Bud added a 15.24 pound limit to finish with a total of 21.81 pounds. Tim Cooper who failed to weigh in a fish on day one caught a 2 fish bag on day 2 that went 9.84. Tims bag was good for second place overall and included day 2′s Big Bass that went 6.59. Ben Dietzel who weighed in only 1 fish on day one that went 2.06 added a 4 fish bag that weighed 7.60 on day two for a total of 9.66 good for third place. Fourth place went to Rick Goodyear who added a 2 fish bag to his day one total that went 3.62 for a total of 9.63. Cory Lorts couldn’t find the big smallmouth that he was on day one and failed to weigh a fish day 2 but held on for fifth place.
A big thank you goes out to all of our officers this year for the hard work to make this club run smoothly and to all of the anglers who participate to make this club the best in the state and one of the best in the nation. Our next event will be the WRBM Charity tournament benefiting Tim Richardson’s grandchildren and Tim Cooper November 19th at Lake Shafer.
