WRBM finished the 2017 regular season on Cataract Lake on Sunday, September 18. The club was met with unseasonable brutal hot conditions and a lake barren of cover with heavy boat traffic. As expected the fishing was tough with only 6 of 18 anglers weighing a fish and only two with more than one. Tim Cooper led the pack and caught three bass that went 5.74 pounds. The win pushed Tim really close to winning the 2017 Angler of the Year trophy. However that prize went to Ben Deitzel who came into the tournament leading in the AOY points. Ben stepped up and protected his spot by catching two largemouth that were good for 4.29 pounds. That creel was good enough for second place in the tournament and securing the AOY title a slim 4 points ahead of Tim. Congrats to both anglers for a strong season. Third place at Cataract as well as big bass honors went to Jim Lorts who brought in a beautiful 3.74 pound largemouth. Rick Martage, Bob Foxyworthy, and Jared Schwedler rounded out the six anglers that caught a keeper in this tournament. Next up for WRBM is the 2017 Classic at Rough River, KY, scheduled for November 4th and 5th.
