Jim Lorts Kicks of 2018 with a Win at Patoka

WRBM held their first tournament of 2018 on April 15 at Patoka Lake in southern Indiana. Patoka proved to be a challenging venue with the lake level 7 feet over summer pool and muddy. Then mother nature kicked in with a cold front on Saturday that pushed the temperature to 40 degrees at the tournament launch on Sunday morning in addition to wind and rain throughout the day. This all led to some seriously tough fishing and not many keeper bass were caught. In fact only 6 bass crossed the scales from 21 anglers. Jim Lorts figured something out and landed a couple hefty largemouth to give him 9.48 pounds and the win. Kris Nichols landed the big bass of the tournament with a 5.69 pounder which was also good for 2nd place. Trey Green just missed out on big bass with a worthy fish for the award when he weighed in a 5.57 pounder which was good enough for 3rd place. 4th place went to Tim Cooper with a 3.34 pounder and 5th place went to Fred Crawford with a 2.93 pounder. WRBM will be at it again at Geist Reservoir in Fishers, IN, on May 6th.
