WRBM conducted the opening tournament of the 2020 season at Morse Reservoir in Noblesville Indiana on May 15, 2020. The field was very anxious to fish coming off the heels of the stay-at-home order and all that has been impacted by COVID. The weather on tournament day was overcast with spitting rain happening throughout the day. Water temps stayed in the low-to-mid 60’s. The recent rains had the lake stained up lake and clearer in the lower part of the lake. In the end Danny Spratt took home the win with 4 bass weighing in at 9.4 lb’s. Danny won the 2019 Angler of the Year points race and has continued that strong run into 2020 with this win. Second place went to Todd Irwin who weighed in 2 keepers for 6.44 lb’s. Third place went to Jeremy Spangler who brought in 2 bass for 6.74 lb’s but was hindered by a half pound penalty for a dead bass leaving his total at 6.24 lb’s. Ryan McGuire wound up in fourth place with 2 bass for 5.9 lb.’s and Johnny Miller took fifth place with 2 bass for 5.84 lb.’s. Johnny also caught the big bass of the tournament with a 3.99 beauty! In total WRBM had 20 anglers bring 25 bass to the scales for a total creel limit of 58.37 lbs and an average weight per bass of 2.33 lbs. Surprisingly low creel for mid-May in Central Indiana. WRBM will now focus its attention to the second tournament of the year scheduled to take place at Prairie Creek near Muncie, IN, on June 14, 2020.
