After the worst winter in many of our lifetimes, the Central Indiana bass fishing community has been itching for the ice-out on our local waters and bass tournament season to begin. Mother nature finally obliged and warmed enough to melt the ice just in time for the annual Cabin Fever Tournament put on by the White River Bass Masters at Geist Reservoir in Indianapolis on Saturday, March 22nd. 50 teams made the trek from all over Indiana to chase Geist’s historically good early pre-spawn bite. This year however proved to be somewhat tougher to get the big girls to bite.

The team of Logue and Peters were the best at it and brought home the win with a 5 fish limit that went 14.15 lbs. The team Hinkle and Hinkle came in 2nd by weighing in 12.61 lbs. with only a 4 fish creel. Following them in 3rd place were White River Bass Masters member’s Penwell and Drake who weighed in a 5 fish limit of 11.51 lbs. Team Overstreet and Jones had a 5 fish limit of 11.06 lbs. which was good enough for 4th place while team Dorsey and Miller came in 5th place with 5 fish that went 10.79 lbs.

Big Bass of the tournament went to the team of Paris and McWilliams who brought in a beautiful Geist Lake largemouth tipping the scales at 7.01 lbs. Overall, 8 limits came to the scales and the tournament was a success with reports of numerous fish being caught by many of the teams.

White River Bass Masters kicks off their official 2014 season on Sunday, March 30, right back at Geist. If you’re an angler looking for a great club to fish with while competing with some good anglers then come join White River Bass Masters by contacting
